Introducing the Darwin Core Data Package

This webinar provides an update on efforts to explore a new data model for GBIF.

It introduce changes that GBIF aim to propose as a Vocabulary Enhancement to the Darwin Core standard, with a public review expected to begin on September 2025

Public review features:

• A Darwin Core Conceptual Model, part of a long-awaited Semantic Layer for Darwin Core.
• A Darwin Core Data Package (DwC-DP) Publishing Model, enabling the sharing of deeper, richer data than what is currently possible with a Darwin Core Archive.

This webinar introduces these developments, the timeline, and explains how you to participate in early testing.
