Specimens of Huffmanela lusitana of the Collection of Pathology of IPMA

Study Extent

Northeast Atlantic coast of Portugal, between Figueira da Foz and Cabo da Roca (Portugal)

Sampling

Infected pouting were captured using bottom trawl and gillnets. Morphological Huffmanela lusitana eggs were performed on wet-mounted slides without coverslip pressure. For Scanning electronic microscopy, eggs were rinsed by pipetting and and routinely processed. SEM photographs were taken with JEOL5200-LV electronic microscope.

Method steps

1. Morphological Huffmanela lusitana eggs were performed on wet-mounted slides without coverslip pressure. For Scanning electronic microscopy, eggs were rinsed by pipetting and and routinely processed. SEM photographs were taken with JEOL5200-LV electronic microscope. Muscle samples of all specimens were collected and dehydrated in a graded series of ethanol and embedded in paraffin for histological procedures.

This dataset is associated with the description of a new species Huffmanela lusitana Ramos, Carvalho, Rosa, Alexandre-Pires, Seixas & Esteves, 2016
