description
Gram-stain-positive, aerobic, flagellated, rod-shaped bacterium (0.7 - 0.8 μm wide, 1.8 - 2.0 μm long). Colonies grown on R 2 A agar are white, irregular, lobate, and flat. Oxidase activity is positive. In the API 20 NE test, cells are positive for urease activity; hydrolysis of aesculin and gelatin; and assimilation of D- glucose, N - acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, malic acid, and trisodium citrate, but negative for nitrate reduction; indole production; glucose fermentation; activity of arginine dihydrolase and β - galactosidase; and assimilation of L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, capric acid, adipic acid, and phenylacetic acid. Strain LPB 0288 (= NIBRBAC 000503338) was isolated from a seashore sand sample collected from Gangneung, Republic of Korea (37 ° 44 ʹ 54.0 ʺ N, 128 ° 58 ʹ 26.0 ʺ E).
