Nordre Øyeren Bird Observatory

GBIF publisher since
3 January 2017

Description

Nordre Øyeren Bird Observatory (Nordre Øyeren fuglestasjon; NØF) was founded in 1974. Bird registrations and ringing activity done by NØF members prior to this revealed important biological values in the area, which led to the establishment of Nordre Øyeren nature reserve in 1975 and its recognition as a Ramsar site in 1985. Today NØF focuses on standardized registrations of wetland birds during spring and autumn migration, and maintains a dataset of more than 40 year continuous observations, dating back to the mid-1970s. Data from NØF's waterfowl and wader counts, as well as common field registrations are now digitized and published.
