Description

The herbarium is a data repositore on the flora of a locality, region or country. Collections of "dry" plant specimens arranged according to a recognized taxonomic system for scientific and comparative studies of systematic identification are archived in a herbarium. A herbarium constitutes a representative sample of the morphological characteristics, geographic distribution and phylogenetic history of plants from a given country, region or the whole world. The services provided by the Polytechnic Herbarium are: use of the collection and student herbarium for sample identification, drying of botanical specimens, specialized bibliography, sample identification, inventories, botanical and ecology studies, consultancies in the management of Ecuadorian flora.
