The Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Rhode Island offers excellent undergraduate training in basic biology and graduate research opportunities within many biological subdisciplines. Students are able to focus on the study of animals or plants while specializing in areas such as ecology and evolutionary biology, cell and developmental biology, physiology, molecular biology, and marine biology. Located within southern Rhode Island, our modern laboratories are just minutes away from extensive wooded areas, streams, ponds, estuaries, rocky shores, sandy beaches, and open ocean waters.
