The Tropical Research Institute (IICT) promotes tropical knowledge by pursuing interdisciplinary research of relevance to countries in tropical regions. One of the strategic objectives underlying the work program is facilitating access of Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) to its vast historic and scientific heritage. IICT holds several botanical and zoological collections, mainy representing the flora and fauna of Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe.
