This project seeks to strengthen the management of biodiversity data and improve its accessibility in Guyana to foster sound decision-making and management of the country’s natural resources by government, conservation NGOs and civil society.

Elements of the project include:

  • Developing a database to assemble and organize biodiversity data

  • Linking to datasets published through the Environmental Protection Agency Guyana website

  • Sharing data through the GBIF network

The project team will perform a baseline assessment to identify the various agencies that hold relevant biodiversity data and then consult with them on user needs around datay types, reporting mechanisms and the central database design and construction.
