This project builds on existing collaboration between the partner countries to further develop a national biodiversity database system in Vietnam with funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Biodiversity Conservation Agency (BCA), an arm of Vietnam’s Ministry of National Resources and Environment charged with the management of the country’s biodiversity database, has strengthened national capacity in database management and promoted GBIF in the country as an opportunity for information exchange at the global level.

JBIF, the GBIF node in Japan, has shared its experience of node building and data publishing using GBIF's Integrated Publishing Toolkit through exchange visits and training workshops, supporting Vietnam in the development of a road map for participation in GBIF.
