With biological records collected since the early 1800s, the Zoological Museum of Moscow at Lomonosov State University contains a wealth of undigitized specimens spanning the whole Palaearctic region. With efforts to catalogue new data into an online data portal already underway, this project will initiate the digitization efforts for 40,000 new labels of bird specimens from the European part of the Russian Federation, 10,000 new labels of labels of bird specimens from former-USSR countries (Ukraine, the Baltic States, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan) in addition to 4,000 mammal specimens via GBIF.org.
