Type collections of Fagaceae at Herbarium Bogoriense (BO), Indonesia

Description

The type collections of Fagaceae are a part of targeted datasets of the Herbarium Bogoriense mobilization program.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

Collections of Fagaceae at Herbarium Bogoriense (BO).

Sampling

The essential taxonomic data associated with collections were extracted from the Indonesian Biodiversity Information System (IBIS). These include the taxonomic name, location, habitat, collection date, collector name, collector number, and collection number. The data are then validated by Curators. Checking the data in the collection are done by the Herbarium assistants. The unrecorded collection data are entered into Excel and completed by capturing them. Re-identification is taken place on several selected species.

Quality Control

Curatorial works are under controlled by the Project Coordinator and Project assistant.

Method steps

  1. The program conducts 4 main activities: validating taxonomic identification, databasing, imaging, and georeferencing data. Those activities completed by cleaning and publishing datasets. The validation process is the BO curators responsibility. They update the nomenclature using the online database and the recent publications. The updated nomenclature is aimed to ensure that there is a single name on each species. The unrecorded collection data are entered into Excel and completed by capturing them. Re-identification is taken place on several selected species. The longitude and latitude coordinates of location are provided.
