Description

A list of the tracheophyte names accepted in "Konspekt Sosudistykh Rasteniy Kaliningradskoy Oblasti" [= Checklist of Vascular Plants of Kaliningrad Oblast] (Gubareva et al., 1999). The dataset was compiled as a first step towards further processing of the modern checklist for Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia.

The dataset includes 1,435 accepted names of species, subspecies and varieties (pp. 27-83 of the original source). The original source gives 1,436 numbered entries, but "Euphorbia annua L." (#864) was excluded as an unresolved typo. Additional 702 ornamental species of trees and shrubs (pp. 84-106) are excluded. However, some of them are naturalized (like Acer negundo L., Amelanchier spicata (Lam) K.Koch, etc.) or could be common garden escapes, but this is not indicated in the original source. Also, two lists are partially overlapping for native trees and shrubs which are used in gardening.

Several minor orthographic errors in either scientific names or their authors were corrected manually. Some names were not automatically cross-linked with the GBIF backbone.
