Description

Our dataset includes 5065 records of birds occurrences from the Middle Volga Region (South-East of the European part of Russia). The data on 157 species of birds belonging to 48 families and 19 orders are presented. The dataset summarizes birds occurrences noted by field studies in various areas of the Middle Volga Region from 1978 to 2021. Each occurrence record contains the occurrence ID, basis of record, species name, taxonomic characteristic, geographic coordinates, event date and authors of the record and species identification. All occurrence records are georeferenced. The dataset is based on research of the staff of the Institute of Ecology of the Volga River basin of the Russian Academy of Sciences and of the Mordovia State Nature Reserve and National Park «Smolny».
