Diversity and abundance of bats in the rainy season in Bosque Protector Cerro Blanco, Ecuador

Study Extent

In four study areas within the forest, 8 effective days for each area.

Sampling

For the capture of flying micromammals, 10 mist nets of 12m by 3m were used, located every 20m in an approximate transect of 200m (Rizo, 2015). Sampling will be conducted over eight nights, from 18h00 to 23h00 (eight days/five hours/ten nets), achieving a total sampling effort of 1600 hours/net for the 4 study sub-areas.
Nets will be checked in time periods of 15 to 30 minutes depending on the catch intensity. When the catch intensity drops, the nets will be moved to a different sampling site.
