Orchids of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, India

Study Extent

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, abbreviated as J&K, is located in the northern part of the Indian subcontinent. It is included in the North West Himalayan part of Indian Himalayan Region. Various floras, dissertations, thesis, research papers, research reports, reviews and herbaria are explored for acquiring data on the occurrence of orchid species in J&K. Further, field explorations are also conducted for collecting the data on the orchids in the region.

Sampling

Data acquired from different sources has been rectified using GBIF tools. During field observations data on go-coordinates was collected using GPS handset.

For quality control following instruments were used: (a) GBIF tools (b) Garmin etrax 30 GPS handset

Method steps

1. Floras, dissertations, thesis, research papers, research reports, reviews and herbaria. Field explorations were also carried out to collect the real time data.
