Description

A list of the tracheophyte names accepted in "Catalog of the Flora of Kamchatka" (Yakubov & Сhernyagina, 2004). Commander Islands and Northern Koryakia are not covered by this source. The dataset was compiled as a first step towards further processing of the modern checklist for Kamchatka Peninsula, Kamchatka Krai, Russia.

The dataset includes 1,131 accepted species, subspecies and variety names. The original source listed 1,160 taxa (not 1,166 as erroneously stated in the abstract): 1,127 in bold font and 33 taxa in ordinary font. The following 29 taxa were excluded on various ground: Selaginella sanguinolenta (L.) Spring, Isoetes maritima Underw., Caltha membranacea (Turcz.) Schipcz., Smelowskia inopinata (Kom.) N. Busch, Sorbaria grandiflora (Sweet) Maxim., Epilobium davuricum Fisch. ex Hornem., Rhododendron dauricum L., Rhododendron parvifolium Adams, Polemonium laxiflorum (Regel) Kitam., Eritrichium aretioides (Cham.) DC., Artemisia scoparia Waldst. et Kit. (mistakes, 11 species); Carex kelloggii Boott, Oxytropis rubricaudex Hult., Stellaria ruscifolia Pall. ex Schlecht. (nomenclatural uncertainties, 3 species); Puccinellia alaskana Scribn. et Merr., Chenopodium vachelii Hook. et Arn., Wilhelmsia physodes (Ser.) McNeill, Papaver stubendorffii Tolm., Draba macrocarpa Adams, Rhodiola stephanii (Cham.) Trautv. et Mey., Saxifraga redofskyi Adam, Chamaepericlymenum canadense (L.) Aschers. et Graebn., Cassiope ericoides (Pall.) D. Don, Gentianopsis barbata (Froel.) Ma, Galium spurium L., Artemisia globularia Bess., Artemisia lagocephala (Bess.) DC., Lapsana communis L. (records from old publications with no reliable specimens, 14 species); Draba grandis Langsd. (recorded only from adjacent areas, 1 species). However, 4 taxa given in ordinary font were included: Aquilegia vulgaris L., Chrozophora tinctoria (L.) Adr. Juss., Euphorbia waldsteinii (Sojak) Czer., Knautia arvensis (L.) Coult. (unestablished aliens, 4 species). Corrections in names from a separately printed list of corrections inserted into the book are fully implemented.

Several minor orthographic errors in either scientific names or their authors were corrected manually. Some names were not automatically cross-linked with the GBIF backbone.
