Description

Este recurso presenta el listado de las especies de la subfamilia Bruchinae (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) con ocurrencia conocida para el territorio colombiano. Se listan tres tribus, 21 géneros y 131 especies. Siete especies son consideradas endémicas. El listado ha sido compilado a partir de información disponible en los principales catálogos que tratan el grupo y en literatura reciente. Se incluyen las referencias de todas las descripciones originales y de los trabajos de revisión taxonómica.

El listado compila los nombres de las especies de la subfamilia Bruchinae (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) que se han registrado para el territorio colombiano de acuerdo con la literatura.

Sampling

Se compiló información sobre los nombres, autores y referencias de las especies de la subfamilia Bruchinae (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) que se han registrado para el territorio colombiano a partir de la literatura. El listado se obtuvo inicialmente a partir de Blackwelder (1946) con actualizaciones de trabajos publicados posteriormente.

Quality Control

Los nombres fueron verificados en las descripciones originales, así como en los catálogos y trabajos taxonómicos recientes.

Method steps

  1. El levantamiento de las especies registradas para el país se hizo a partir del catálogo de Blackwelder (1946). Adicionalmente, fueron consultados trabajos más recientemente publicados para poder incluir especies que no hubieran sido incluidas en dicho catálogo y actualizaciones taxonómicas.
  2. La grafía y autoría de cada nombre fue verificada en los catálogos y en las descripciones originales.
  3. La distribución de las especies en el país, por departamento, fue compilada a través de la consulta de todos los artículos en los que se cita cada especie para Colombia.
  4. Las referencias bibliográficas fueron compiladas a partir de descripciones originales, nuevos registros y trabajos de revisión taxonómica.

Taxonomic Coverages

Se listan tres tribus, 7 subtribus, 21 géneros y 131 especies de la subfamilia Bruchinae (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) para Colombia. Siete especies son consideradas endémicas y dos géneros introducidos (Bruchus y Callosobruchus). El género Acanthoscelides posee el mayor número de especies (50), seguido por Caryedes (16), Megacerus (13), Sennius (9) y Amblycerus (8). El listado fue compilado a partir de catálogos y revisiones taxonómicas, resaltando los aportes de Kingsolver, Johnson y Ribeiro-Costa que describieron el 33.6% de las especies que componen este listado. Si bien la mayoría de los géneros de Colombia han tenido revisiones recientes, se requieren trabajos que esclarezcan los patrones de distribución de estas especies en el país, ya que para el 16,8% no se conoce una localidad específica y el 37.4% solo se conocen para una localidad.

Geographic Coverages

Se reportan 131 especies de la subfamilia Bruchinae (Coleoptera: Chrysomeloidea: Chrysomelidae) de 25 departamentos de Colombia: Magdalena (42), Valle del Cauca (37), Cundinamarca (29), Antioquia (24), Tolima (16) y Bolívar (12), siendo los departamentos con mayor número de especies. Para los restantes se reportaron menos de 10 especies en cada uno. En la literatura consultada 22 especies no poseen localidad conocida, o ninguna que se pueda atribuir a algún departamento. Los registros ambiguos corresponden a las localidades “Pto. Magdalena”, “Llano grande”, “Santa María” y “Río Raposo”.
