Site condition monitoring of the intertidal sediment flats of the Loch Moidart and Shiel Woods SAC was initiated in 2003. The work of the current 2014 study was to carry out a Site Check survey of the sediment flats to provide an assessment of the current condition of the intertidal sediment flat feature. The five relocatable transects established in 2003 were re-examined, which involved checking the presence and sequence of biotopes along the transects. A subsidiary aim of the survey work was to produce a biotope map of the sediment flats. This involved supplementing the site check data by walking over the area recording the nature of the substratum and conspicuous biota observed in the form of target notes at fixed positions.Taxonomic Coverages
