Distribution of marsh frogs (Pelophylax ridibundus complex) in Kazakhstan. Version 1.3. Institute of Zoology of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Occurrence dataset https://doi.org/10.15468/et4dus accessed via GBIF.org on 2024-12-14.Description
The presented data are the result of generalization and reconciliation of literary, museum and archival information on the distribution of lake frogs of the P. ridibundus complex in Kazakhstan, and new data were obtained during field work in 2021-2022. Based on the collected material, a database has been compiled for all the frog finds known today for the period from the end of the XX century to the present.Sampling Description
Study Extent
Freshwater and brackish diatoms (Bacillariophyta Karsten 1928) from 67 sites (SamplingLocationID: 1-67) from 39 permanent streams, 21 temporary waterbodies (puddles) and 7 permanent waterbodies of Utrish Nature State Reserve. Based on the collected material, a database has been compiled for all the lake frog finds known today for the period from the end of the XX century to the present.Sampling
-Method steps
- Based on the results of this project, the modern boundaries of the range of the P. ridibundus complex in Kazakhstan were determined based on the totality of ground data and the results of GIS modeling. A database has been developed and cadastral maps of finds of lake frogs in Kazakhstan have been constructed for the period from the end of the XVI century to the present. A GIS model of the range of the P. ridibundus complex and the entire genus Pelophylax has been created. According to the analysis of mitochondrial and nuclear DNA, the genetic diversity of the P. ridibundus complex was determined; the habitation of three genetic forms in Kazakhstan was established. The data has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 838 occurrences.
