Natural History Museum (NHM), TU, Nepal has played a crucial role in collection and preservation of pteridophytes since 1971. Pteridophytes are the first land vascular plants and reproduce through spores. Till date 301 pteridophyte specimens are collected by different persons from different part of the country. A total of 301 specimens are present, belonging to the division Tracheophyta which are grouped under two classes: Lycopodiopsida (18) and Polypodiopsida (283). Further, these specimens belong to nine orders and fifteen families. The dominant family with maximum number of specimens are Polypodiaceae (109), followed by Pteridaceae (86) and Aspleniaceae (38). The genera with high number of specimens are Asplenium (26), Cheilanthes (25), Adiantum (24), Polypodium (20), Onychium (18), Selaginella (17), Polystichum (16) and Pteris (16).Sampling Description
