Laikipia Samburu Wildlife aerial census (2012)

Purpose

To determine wildlife abundance in the Laikipia-Samburu ecosystem

Sampling

Systematic transects were used. Census block maps were developed with predetermined transect lengths and widths.

Quality Control

Data records were processed by the experienced GIS personnel who removed double counts especially at the edge of the counting blocks

Method steps

  1. Wildlife census data carried out after every three years depending on the availability of funds.
