Description

The dataset contains data on the occurrence of 119 bird species, obtained as a result of the analysis of data from the Annals of Nature of the Biosphere Reserve "Askania Nova" for 1980-1986, conducted by the junior researcher Semenov M. M.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

The studied are included the system of artificial reservoirs of the zoo, sections of the protected steppe "Southern" and "Northern", buffer zones and anthropogenic landscapes of the F.E. Falz-Fein Biosphere Reserve "Askania-Nova", Kherson region, Ukraine. The records were made within the period from 1980 to 1986.

Sampling

Materials of ornithological research collected during 1980-1986 by the junior researcher of the Department of virgin steppe Semenov M. M. and published in the Annals of Nature of the Biosphere Reserve "Askania-Nova" were processed. Based on the descriptions of the area provided in the reports, the approximate coordinates of the meeting of bird species were determined.

The author of the dataset is fully responsible for the quality of data provided within the dataset.

Species identification and describing of the places of records.
Writing reports to the Annals of Nature of the reserve.
Georeferencing of the registration points based on the descriptions provided in the reports.
Organising of the dataset according to the Darwin Core standards.

The dataset consists of records of various birds (class: Aves, orders: Podicipediformes, Ciconiiformes, Anseriformes, Falconiiformes, Galliformes, Gruiformes, Charadriiformes, Columbiformes, Caprimulgiformes, Coraciiformes, Cuculiformes, Strigiformes, Upupiformes, Piciformes та Passeriformes).
