Study Extent
The extent of the study is the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and its vicinity.Sampling
We annually surveyed for non-native plants visually using field collection and data standards compatible with the Alaska Exotic Plant Information Clearinghouse database (AKEPIC, http://aknhp.uaa.alaska.edu/apps/akepic/).Method steps
- We visited mostly human-disturbed locations including roads, trailheads, and trails, where we visually surveyed non-native plants using AKEPIC-compatible field methods and data standards. Most identifications were made in the field by eye. Sometimes plant specimens were collected for identification in the lab. We also treated non-native plants by pulling, trimming, or applying herbicides.
