Data Use Club practical session - 19 Sept 2024
Utilizing cloud computing services can enable big data queries that are slow or impractical on a local machine. Public datasets containing snapshots of all GBIF-mediated occurrence data are shared each month on the Microsoft Planetary Computer (Azure), as an Amazon AWS Open Dataset, and on a public Google GCS bucket and BigQuery table.
During this practical session, GBIF Data Analyst, John Waller, described the snapshots and demonstrated how to query and cite GBIF-mediated data using these cloud services.
