The conference, organized by the Belgian Biodiversity Platform and several key institutes, will explore various topics related to biodiversity informatics & open data. A series of related workshops will be organized in the future as a follow up to the event.
The main objective of this training is to improve the understanding and application of biodiversity information for Sub-Saharan African scientists, university members and students and to increase their participation and ownership in biodiversity informatics.
More specifically :
GBIF has identified the provision of identifiers for biodiversity objects as one of the central challenges to developing a global bioinformatics infrastructure. This workshop is an opportunity for BeBIF to dissemate the knowledge gained at similar GBIF course.
