This Latin American project featured both regional training in the form of a workshop and the development of a documentation toolkit in Spanish.

The project's aim was to strengthen regional capacities for publishing sampling-event data and data quality assessment, and allow the development of tools for the benefit of the global community, while reinforcing collaboration within the Latin American countries.

The "Capacity Building Workshop for Documentation and Publication of Sample Data Based in Latin America" took place 17-21 April 2017. The workshop had training aimed at increasing the quality of data and the ability to use data published through GBIF correctly. A number of national and regional representatives attended the workshop and improved their ability and capacity to to implement data quality actions in the short, medium and long term, not only to improve but to maintain the quality of the information shared and published the network.

The available documents and training materials for data publishing was translated and adapted for Latin America and the training toolkit was made available for the GBIF community.
