Uruguay has recently rejoined GBIF as a Voting Participant and is developing its National Biodiversity Strategies and Actions Plans. This project will provide mentorship to Uruguay in establishing a national biodiversity website and data-portal, as well as an efficient data publication workflow. It will build on the technical collaboration between Brazil, Canada and Colombia for the development of tools and the benefit of the global community.

The broader Latin America region has also recognized the need to strengthen its technical capacities and its ability to effectively exchange experiences in data quality processes, best practices, and tool development. By supporting regional participation in a data publishing and data quality workshop, the project will reinforce regional collaboration and establishing a common framework for assessing the quality of primary biodiversity data mobilized by the network.
