How to link events and news to a project

This project applied the Plinian Core standard as a means of increasing the quality and interoperability of species data mobilized through the GBIF network. Developed to provide a means of managing comprehensive species-level information, Plinian Core integrates information from literature, biological records and direct observations while aligning with other data standards, including the Darwin Core. Wider adoption of Plinian Core promises to improve curation and validation of GBIF-mediated occurrence data by different species cataloguers.

A new version of the Plinian Core Abstract Model was developed during the course of the project, vocabularies for key terms were developed and pilot datasets were published to test the new elements of the standard.
