The practice of drawing biodiversity data from scientific literature remains largely untapped in Latin America. This project helped increase the region’s capacity to digitize and publish biodiversity data from scientific literature, images and other multimedia objects. This initiative also aimed to foster partnerships that make biodiversity data from these sources more widely available while enhancing their fitness for use through the linking of occurrence with evidence based on literature and multimedia objects.
