This project builds on existing collaboration between the partner countries to further develop a national biodiversity database system in Vietnam with funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Biodiversity Conservation Agency (BCA), an arm of Vietnam’s Ministry of National Resources and Environment charged with the management of the country’s biodiversity database, proposes to strengthen national capacity in database management and to promote GBIF in the country as an opportunity for information exchange at the global level.

JBIF, the GBIF node in Japan, will share its experience of node building and data publishing using GBIF's Integrated Publishing Toolkit through exchange visits and training workshops, supporting Vietnam in the development of a road map for participation in GBIF.
