Description of the event:
In order to sensitize data holders and impart skills to GBIF participants and motivate them to create national level portals in Asia, a training workshop is proposed. During the workshop input in the following themes will be provided: (i) digitization of biodiversity data especially natural history collections; (ii) discovery and publishing of biodiversity data; (iii) developing demand-driven data mobilization strategy and action plan. The sessions will include demonstrating best practices and providing hands on training to participants on digitization and on data publishing (detailed schedule in enclosed: Annex II). In addition, tools that will enhance data quality will be introduced, and described. The methods employed in develop an action plan for the information portals, and the outcomes from successful ones will be shared.
