Sustainability by Nathan Wilson

My experience with the private sector is that they are very supportive of public data as long as it does not impinge on their business model. This is one of the reasons why commercial hardware, software and content creation organizations are big supporters of open source infrastructure projects. Developing similar relationships for the support of biodiversity data is in my view both practical and important for long term sustainability.

sustainabilty by David Shorthouse

Nice work, folks. Though you hinted at the possibility of coordinated industry involvement, how do you propose we tackle financial sustainability? Surely industry would be at odds with public domain licensing.
