GBIF poster: The Data Paper: an incentive for metadata publishing, 2011 edition
This poster describes the new mechanism to encourage data holders to publish them in public networks such as GBIF: the data paper. This poster was first displayed at the 18th meeting of the GBIF Governing Board.

Abstract: Data Paper is a searchable metadata document describing a particular online accessible dataset, or a group of datasets, and published in accordance to the standard academic practices. Its purposes are:
• to provide a citable journal publication that brings scholarly credit to data publishers;
• to describe the data in a structured human-readable form; and
• to bring the existence of the data to the attention of the scientific community.
