Target audience: Biologists and data administrators
Abstract: GBIF provides a set of pre-configured Microsoft Excel spreadsheet files that serve as templates for capturing metadata, occurrence data, and simple species checklists. The spreadsheets are linked to an online processing system that validates the uploaded (or emailed) spreadsheet file and then transforms the data to a Darwin Core Archive and returns this to the user.
