Endangered Wildlife Trust
Description
The Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) is a biodiversity conservation organisation operating throughout sub-Saharan Africa which works widely with partners in collecting, collating and managing many biodiversity datasets. A partnership was established between the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and the EWT to increase participation in GBIF by sub-Saharan African countries by helping to build greater capacity in sub-Saharan Africa, to mobilise these data for greater access and utilisation. In addition, it seeks to explore means of creating compatible links between existing datasets, in particular transboundary datasets, to allow for non-taxa analyses.
The objective of this partnership is to increase local and regional capacity to ensure that high quality biodiversity information can be digitised, accessed and shared appropriately and securely (which meets the general principles behind participation and data mobilisation in GBIF).
The Endangered Wildlife Trust was established in 1973 and is registered as a Non-profit Organisation, registration number 015-502NPO. The PBO number is 930 001 777.
