In addition to specimen, observations and multimedia-based primary biodiversity data, GBIF also encourages the discovery and mobilisation of other types of primary biodiversity data. Some of the potential sources include environmental impact assessment, agro-biodiversity and forestry inventory and monitoring, biomedical and public health studies, etc.
