Registering a new data provider
Q: I tried to register my new TAPIR access point to GBIF through the registration page at http://www.gbif.org/DataProviders/registerme, but I keep receiving error messages. What is going wrong?
A: The registration page available for the older protocols (DiGIR, BioCASe) is a legacy of an earlier version of the GBIF portal, which has never been adapted to handle TAPIR registrations. The registration process is currently being re-designed and -implemented. Until this has been completed, please register by sending an email to helpdesk@gbif.org, including the following information:
- The access point url of the newly configured endpoint. This would include the id of the individual dataset and look like, e.g. tapir.myserver.com/tapir.php/MY_fly_dataset
- If there is more than one dataset, each of them has to be registered individually.
- The name of the data provider that this should be listed under. This information should be contained in the configured metadata, under the <name> for the <relatedEntity> 'data supplier'.
- For a new data provider: the GBIF Participant Node that the provider should be registered under. You can find a list of existing participant nodes in the dropdown box on the old Registration Page.
- A confirmation that you read and accepted the GBIF Data Sharing Agreement.
