The 19th meeting of the GBIF Governing Board (GB19) took place in Lillehammer (north of Oslo), Norway, on 18 and 20 September 2012 with the GBIF Committee meetings taking place in the days prior to the meeting.

28 countries and 5 international organizations and other GBIF Participants participated in the meeting. The total no. of attendees was 80.

The GBIF annual Science Symposium took place on 19 September at the Lillehammer University College. The theme of this year's symposium was GBIF at work - biodiversity data at the service of science and society.
