Spatial Ecology and Conservation conference

Add to calendar
17 - 20 June 2014

The first international conference on Spatial Ecology & Conservation (SEC1) was organized in 2011. Over 200 scientists and conservation practitioners from around the world came to discuss and evaluate the latest advances in spatial ecology and associated technologies, and how these could best be deployed to underpin conservation. At that first meeting, it was agreed that a conference would be held every three years to report progress, assess needs and present new findings.

This second international meeting - Spatial Ecology & Conservation (SEC2) - will have the following themes:

  • Advances in mapping and analysing terrestrial and marine systems
  • Understanding species’ distributions
  • Training and professional development
  • Realizing the full potential of remotely sensed data for conservation
  • Decision support tools for conservation
  • Selecting and designating Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)
