The Executive Secretary of GBIF, Donald Hobern, is presenting at a side event on the Global Invasive Alien Species Information Partnership (GIASIP), on 14 October 2013, during the 17th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-17).
Under an agreement with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD), the GBIF Secretariat will be the primary focal point of GIASIP, which brings together a number of organizations focussed on improving the interoperability of different information sources on this major driver of biodiversity loss.
Tools and resources discussed at the side event will include the GIASIP Information Gateway, the Global Register of Introduced and Invasive Species, the IAS Pathway Tool, and plans to develop interoperability between partners’ resources to improve the ability of Parties to discover the information they need.
