GBIF makes available a variety of communication platforms targeted to different audiences and with different purposes. Here you can find a list for your reference.

Web platforms

The GBIF web platforms are dynamic web sites where the most recent information can be found, depending on what you are interested in:

  • The GBIF website. It is the website you are visiting right now. It serves as the official communication channel for GBIF, maintained by the GBIF Secretariat.

  • The GBIF Community Site. It is a collaborative platform, by and for the GBIF Community of nodes, publishers, users and other interested parties.

  • The GBIF Google Code Sites. For those interested in following or participating in the technical developments led by GBIF.

  • The GBIF Virtual Classroom. Not a communication platform per se, the Virtual Classroom is an electronic learning environment under development at present.

Newsletter

GBits is the official GBIF electronic newsletter containing the most relevant news across the network, published on a bi-monthly basis. It is targeted to the whole GBIF community and other partners who wish to be kept up to date on GBIF news.

Mailing lists

GBIF maintains several mailing lists for the different groups and committees, including:

  • GBIF Governing Board
  • GBIF Node Managers
  • GBIF Committees (Executive, Science, Budget, Rules)
  • GBIF Task Groups

Whenever you become a member of any of these groups you will be added to the appropriate mailing list. In case of doubt, please contact the GBIF Secretariat.

Additionally, there are other mailing lists available associated to the technical developments:
