From 3 to 5 March 2011 a data publishing workshop was held at the Conference Center of FOPADESC in Lomé, Togo.

This workshop has been organised by GBIF Togo with the participation of GBIF France, as part of the mentoring project between these two countries. The workshop was attended by representatives of ministries, teachers of the University of Lomé, researchers, private and civil society organisations.
The aim of the workshop was to provide the knowledge that a publisher needs in order to publish their data via GBIF.
Presentations, debates and tutorials covered various topics including the GBIF network, data digitisation, the data publishing tool (IPT), intellectual properties rights and sensitive data.
It was also an opportunity for all participants to share their vision and concerns regarding biodiversity data mobilisation within the country and to sign a partnership agreement with GBIF Togo.
In addition to this event (5-8 March 2011), the visit of the French Node was also the opportunity for providing technical support to the Togolese Node, with on-site training of a local technician (Koudjo Akpene) and the publication of a first data set from the Togolese National Herbarium using the IPT.
These activities conclude the mentoring project, which enabled GBIF Togo to become an operational biodiversity information facility.

Lomé, Formation à la publication des données, Mars 2011
Du 3 au 5 Mars 2011, une formation à la publication des données a eu lieu au Centre de Conférences FOPADESC de Lomé, Togo.
Cette formation a été organisé par le GBIF Togo avec la participation du GBIF France, dans le cadre du projet de parrainage entre ces deux pays.
L’atelier a compté la participation de représentants de ministères, professeurs de l’Université de Lomé, chercheurs, et organisations civiles et privées.
L’objectif de cette formation était de fournit les connaissances qu’un fournisseur de données doit avoir pour publier ses données via le GBIF.
Les présentations, débats et travaux pratiques ont couverts des sujets variés tels que le réseau GBIF, la numérisation des données, l’outil dédié à la publication des données (IPT), les droits de propriété intellectuelle et les données sensibles.
Ce fût également l’opportunité pour tous les participants de partager leurs visions et questions à propos de la mobilisation des données sur la biodiversité dans le pays et de signer des accords de partenariat avec le GBIF Togo.
En plus de cet évènement (5-8 Mars 2011), la visite du GBIF France fût l’occasion d’apporter une assistance technique au noeud togolais, avec une formation sur place d’un informaticien local (Koudjo Akpene) et la publication d’un premier jeu de données de l’Herbier National en utilisant l’IPT.
Ces actions concluent le projet de parrainage, et ont permis au GBIF Togo de devenir un point nodal opérationnel.
