The GBIF Secretariat hosted a side event during the 11th Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP11), on 11 October 2012, to report progress on the Global Biodiversity Informatics Outlook, a framework for building the foundations, data content, data access and models to enable better understanding of biodiversity and help countries meet targets to prevent its loss.
The event, entitled The Global Biodiversity Informatics Outlook: a 10-year Roadmap for Biodiversity Intelligence, launched the summary of the outcome of the Global Biodiversity Informatics Conference (GBIC), held in Copenhagen in July 2012.
It included the launch of a short brochure entitled The Global Biodiversity Informatics Outlook: A framework for biodiversity intelligence (.pdf, 856 KB). This summarizes the 20 components of the framework, which will be elaborated into a detailed document in coming months.
