The GBIF Help Desk answers all questions related to the use of information and communication technologies in the GBIF network, as well as process-related requests.
Examples of questions include:
- Problems and needs related to user accounts and passwords
- Appointments to various GBIF committee roles and emailing lists
- CIRCA services, including finding documents and how to participate in discussions
- Functions and possible errors on web sites
- How to use, configure and debug GBIF tools such as the DiGIR provider packages, repository tool and the Portal Toolkit
- How to register data providers and the steps required for Becoming a GBIF Data Provider
Requests sent to the GBIF Help Desk are acknowledged immediately when staff is available to handle them – normally within 3 hours during business hours. All requests will receive a case number that the users can refer to. If a solution cannot be given right away, a case will be opened and followed up until solved.

GBIF Help Desk also appreciates suggestions on how GBIF tools and services could be improved. The Help Desk will forward such suggestions to GBIF webmaster and developers, if they concern enhancements to the web site and web services.
