As an international ‘public-good’ initiative, GBIF is always looking to recruit new Participants, data publishers and users – the child writing a school report, the scientist working in the field or the organisation trying to fight global warming.
The over-arching goal of GBIF communication initiatives is to get across to all our stakeholders the importance of GBIF’s services, outlined in four key messages:
- A convincing rationale – why the service that GBIF provides is critically important
- The gateway to biodiversity information – GBIF alone provides this unique service
- Proven effectiveness – GBIF enables high impact applications across stakeholder groups, with critical management implications, including applied use to enhance decision-making capabilities to meet biodiversity targets and meet reporting requirements under biodiversity-related conventions
- A multiplier of value through economies of scale – GBIF optimises economic and human resources.
