The objective of the Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) is to establish a framework for cooperative work between the ongoing Zipcode Zoo (ZCZ) and GBIF programmes to effectively exchange and disseminate biodiversity data and information.

GBIF will provide access to specimen and observational data derived from its global network of data providers. The intent of making these data available to ZCZ is to facilitate more efficient access to the processed occurrence information that GBIF currently makes available, and ZCZ currently accesses, via the GBIF web services.

ZCZ agrees to

  • Restrict the use of the raw specimen and occurrence data to facilitate the processing of data for integration within the ZCZ web site located at ZipcodeZoo.com. These raw data will not be distributed by ZCZ to third parties.
  • Comply with GBIF data usage guidelines as defined with the GBIF data usage agreement.
