Deadline for applications (to be submitted through Heads of GBIF Delegations) is 3 April 2008.
The process of adding detailed geographic information (georeferencing) and developing an associated estimate of uncertainty for the locality information from species occurrence data can be a time consuming and expensive undertaking, although new tools and techniques are lightening the load. Nevertheless, this specific information is needed to perform advanced spatial analyses such as ecological niche modelling or other map-intensive functionalities.
This workshop is targeted at persons who are professionally involved with georeferencing. Applications for this training should be:
- Clearly linked to work for the person's institutional affiliation, or
- Part of a biodiversity data digitisation project or initiative.
