"Biodiversity,
humans and global change in Africa". The 6th
annual GBIF
Science
Symposium. The Symposium is open to the public.
Global change has already affected biodiversity and will continue doing so. Because of the multiple and inherent links between ecosystems health, ecosystems services and the livelihood of people,
the impact of global change on human populations could be devastating. Furthermore, the Millenium Ecosystem Assessment has already indicated that poor people in rural areas are particularly
vulnerable to the loss of essential services when ecosystems become degraded.
