The Iziko Museum offers the visitor an insight into the fascinating natural history of Southern
Africa, with an emphasis on animal and fossil research collections. Highlights include marine
invertebrates and fishes, insects (particularly ants, bees and wasps), vertebrate osteology,
Karoo mammal-like reptile fossils, fossil ammonites, and Cenozoic fossils from the West Coast
Fossil Park. Speciality areas of scientists include ants, parasitic wasps, sharks and rays,
cephalopod molluscs, ammonite fossils, palaeoecology of Gondwana, and the reconstruction of past
environments from the analysis of micromammals in owl pellets.

Robben Island, South Africa’s notorious ex-prison island housed Nelson Mandela for 27
years and is a significant historical landmark. Today the island is a memorial and a museum.

Table Mountain Cable Car - A trip up the Table Mountain cable provides spectacular views
while rising to the summit of one of the world’s most famous landmarks. The Cable Car

| Cape Point Nature Reserve Cape Point is a wild and scenically beautiful area at the tip
of the Cape Peninsula where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. The nature reserve is home to
a wealth of indigenous fauna and flora.

| Take a visit to Green Market Square, Cape Town’s colourful African market where you can
find a selection of treasures from across the continent. The Square is surrounded by restaurants,
coffee and curio shops and is an ideal location to spend the day relaxing and absorbing Cape Town
City culture.

Cape Town is world renowned for white sand beaches and beautiful ocean. A drive around the
Peninsula will take you to a variety of small coves and vast unspoilt beaches. There are
opportunities to go horse riding at Noordhoek Beach

Boulders Beach is home to the African Jackass Penguin which live within a protected reserve.
Wooden walkways allow visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat. It is also possible
to swim with the penguins.

Visit to the Spier Wine Estate and Moyo Restaurant. Spier is one of the Western Cape’s
Premier wine estates, producing an excellent range of wines for local consumption and export.
The estate is also home to ‘Moyo’, a restaurant providing a unique African experience and offering
a host of dishes well loved on the continent.
